Running in the right direction

At SAYSKY, we strive to make long-lasting, high-quality products with a minimal impact on our planet, and take steps forward to keep the world running more responsibly.

We work to be as responsible as possible – but without ever compromising on quality, durability or performance. The purpose of SAYSKY products is to be used again and again. In terms of being responsible, we believe that durability is key, like the saying goes  sharing is caring. High-quality products can and should be re-used by a new runner.

We acknowledge that our run towards a more conscious future is a marathon, not a sprint. We are aware that everything we do along the way matters and every step counts. We aim to continuously take steps in the right direction.

Responsible shopping

When you browse through the SAYSKY product offerings, then look for the SAYSKY Responsible icon - this is your guarantee that the product lives up to our own Responsible requirements:

To qualify for the SAYSKY Responsible icon, the product needs to be made from materials that are either fully or at least 40% recycled, renewable, biodegradable, organic, or with natural fibres that are processed responsibly.

saysky responsible

75% of all Autumn/Winter 2023 styles will be produced in a responsible manner - an increase from 53% in the Spring/Summer 2023 collection.

Saysky Responsibility

We already have a list of responsible initiatives, but also new ones in the pipeline. We are not yet there, but we want to continually challenge our current solutions and business processes by bringing creativity and innovation into our workflows and collections. These are our current responsible initiatives, which are implemented throughout the company, our product offerings and community:

  • Responsible products
  • Packaging
  • Warehouse
  • Import Shipping
  • Factories
  • Responsible consumption
  • Community #saysky
  • Running is your responsible footprint

Responsible Products

75% of all Autumn/Winter 2023 styles will be produced in a responsible manner (as defined above) - an increase from 53% in the Spring/Summer 2023 collection. We'll continue to look for new materials and responsible solutions to further reduce our environmental impact. You can see our responsible styles right here.

  • Most of the polyester used in our garment styles in 2023 will be from recycled sources.
  • We will continue to have merino wool (non-mulesing) in our range, which is 100% renewable and biodegradable. More info here.
  • Our lifestyle collection is made from 100% organic cotton and GOTS certified - the world’s leading textile processing standard for organic fibers, including ecological and social criteria, throughout the entire supply chain.
  • All down products comply with the Responsible Down Standard (RDS), guaranteeing that feathers and down come from certified farms.
  • We use Tencel in all Motion t-shirts, tanks and singlets. Tencel is responsibly produced from Aspen and Birch Trees. More info here.
  • All our water bottles are BPA free and our sports bottles are biodegradable.

Our poly bags are made from 95% recycled plastic. Likewise, our delivery cardboard boxes are 95% recycled and FSC certified, ensuring that the material comes from responsibly managed forests that provide environmental, social, and economic benefits. If you want to return your SAYSKY items, we recommend you re-use the same box.

We carefully sort all items in the warehouse and dispose all waste material properly – tracing it all the way to the recycling station.

Import Shipping

93% of import shipping from our factories came via sea or rail freight in 2022. Sea and rail freight are better alternatives compared to truck and air modes of transportation, when it comes to CO2 emissions.

We work closely together with our trusted factories to ensure transparency and high standards for social and environmental conditions at the individual factories. Our products are carefully produced in China, Bangladesh, and Lithuania, which are all approved by the BSCI (Business Social Compliance Initiative). We have chosen to produce in countries who have all the necessary manufacturing sites and materials close to the production facility, in order to reduce the carbon footprint from transport.

Responsible Consumption

We strive to produce only what is needed to meet the seasonal demand and we encourage customers to “wear with care” by re-using or donating apparel for longevity. If you ever get to the point of totally outrunning it or destroy it by accident, then please make sure to properly dispose of it. You can check our care guide on how to make the most of your SAYSKY pieces.

We are also proud to state that 0% of non-sold seasonal items are being disposed of - as we keep them available for purchase at reduced prices.

Community #saysky

To us, community is key. Since the beginning of SAYSKY we have been working hard to contribute to the running community by supporting local as well as global projects through partnerships, races and events. Bound together by a passion and love for the sport, we will continue to support our worldwide running tribe, a collection of everyday heroes who are passionate and serious about their sport, yet with a laid-back mindset. It is our mission at SAYSKY to make the world feel smaller and more connected through running.

Keep it running with us here #saysky.
